Lady Patriots Find The Sticks--4-0 In Conference Play

St.Catharine Lady Patriots had a change in schedule due to poor field conditions and had a last minute switch as the University of the Cumberlands traveled to St.Catharine College for conference play.

Junior Sharonda Mangan started on the mound in game 1. She only allowed 4 hits in 7 innings, one of which was a homerun and was the only run scored for Cumberland.  Mangan also had 2 walks and a hit batter and was the winning pitcher in a 1-7 conference victory.

Junior Megan Cheuvront went 2-3.  Sophomore Amber Matteoli went 1-3 with 3 RBI's.  Sophomore Justine Paddock went 1-2 with a double, RBI, and a walk.  Junior Mary Kate Hayes went 1-3.  Mangan went 1-3 with a homerun and 2 RBI's.  Freshman Kasie Prather went 1-3.

In game 2, Matteoli started on the mound.  She gave up 5 hits, had 8 strike outs, and 0 walks, only allowing 1 run for Cumberland in the 1-8 victory bringing the Lady Patriots to 4-0 in the conference.

Freshman Amber Ross had a walk.  Junior Casey Crouch went 1-3. Matteoli went 2-3 with a homerun and 3 RBI's.  Paddock went 1-3 with a RBI. Hayes went 1-3 with a RBI.  Mangan went 1-2 with a homerun, 3 RBI's, and a HBP.

Head Coach Holly Smith's comments after the games: " I am very proud of the effort that I have gotten from these young ladies. I am very excited to be 4-0 in the conference.  Our pitching from start to finish, including Freshman Katelin Mulloy, was outstanding today.  In both games we never gave up putting up 4 runs in the 5th inning of game 1 and putting up 6 runs in the third inning of game 2 , gave us great momentum.  Both starting pitchers helped theirselves out by hitting the long balls with several RBI's and Mangan went yard twice.  It is exciting to see that I have players that have the ability to do that."
