Women's Soccer Signs 2 Time Simon Kenton Mvp

Tuesday, February 3 - Krista Russell, a two time MVP for the Simon Kenton girls soccer team signed to play her collegiate soccer with St. Catharine College in a ceremony in the Simon Kenton auditorium today. Krista thanked her parents, Simon Kenton Coach Dustin Jones, and Shawna Lankheit. She plans to study Radiology and Advanced Medical Imaging at St. Catharine.

"Krista will be an excellent addition to our team. She will help improve our offense and our program overall. I expect her to be an impact player for us as a freshman. With the school adding Track and Field for next spring, I hope she will have the opportunity to be a two sport athlete in college as well," remarked Patriot Soccer Coach Paul Patton.

Russell, a two sport athlete, has been a standout in both soccer and track. She was named Simon Kenten Girls Soccer Most Valuable Player in 2006 and 2007 and Best Offensive Player in 2008. She was also named 2nd team All Region and made the Northern Kentucky All-Star team in 2007. In Track she was Regional Champion in the 300 Hurdles and Regional Runner-Up in the 100 Hurdles in both 2006 and 2007. In 2008 she was a State Qualifier in the both events.
