Nelson County Standout Signs With Scc

Wednesday, April 15 - Surrounded by her parents, teammates, her high school coach Andrea "Bug" Brown, and her new college coach Paul Patton; Cortney Mattingly, a Midfielder for Nelson County High School, signed to play college soccer with the Patriots of St. Catharine College in a ceremony in NCHS media center today. Cortney was named Junior Varsity MVP and Varsity Super Sub as a freshman, as well as earning the Coaches Award her senior year. She plans to study Nursing in addition to playing soccer at St. Catharine.

"I am very excited to be back at Nelson County, signing another recruit," stated Patriot coach Paul Patton. "I have recruited many quality soccer players from Nelson County High, going all the way back to 1997 when I was coach at Spalding, through last year when I signed 3 players for the SCC men's team. I expect Cortney to be one of our top recruits for 2009. She has all the tools to be an impact player right away for St. Catharine. This is a great day for our program and for Cortney."
