Shumaker Signs For Soccer

Friday, March 26 - The Lady Patriots Soccer team added a goalkeeper today, with the signing of Kelsie Shumaker. This makes the third goalkeeper and eleventh player to sign for SCC this spring. With no 'keepers returning from the 2009 season, this signing rounds out a solid class at that position for Patriot Women's Soccer Coach Paul Patton.

Shumaker, a Richmond, Kentucky native, signed an NAIA letter of intent with St. Catharine College in a ceremony in the Madison Southern High School Auditorium. Kelsie played 'keeper for Coach Katy Cress' Madison Southern team as well as for Coach Jordan Sa'as' MUSA Flyers club team where she was a two year Captain. Shumaker was a member of the first Madison Southern girls soccer team to win the District Championship in school history.

"I've always wanted to play soccer in college, and I am excited to sign today," beamed Shumaker. "I want to thank everyone for their support over the years," she added, referring to family, friends, and teammates in attendance.
