Shelby County Standout Signs With Scc

Tuesday, April 13, 2010 - "I am excited to be signing Elizabeth today. She is an outstanding player that will have the opportunity to make an impact on our team and program right away as a freshman!"

That was the message from St. Catharine College Head Women's Soccer Coach Paul Patton at the ceremony for Elizabeth Plante's college signing. Plante, a standout Midfielder for Shelby County High School and for the United 1996 Soccer Club officially joined the Lady Patriots when she signed her scholarship contract in front of friends, teammates, family and coaches in the Shelby County High School Library today.

Elizabeth led the Lady Rockets in assists in 2009, was the first Shelby County player to score a goal against rival Oldham County in a District game in 10 years, was named Most Improved Player as a freshman, and was part of the Shelby County team that finished in third place at the Bluegrass State games. She was also active in school as a member of the Kentucky Junior Historical Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and ROTC. She plans to study Nursing or Education and be the best soccer player she can be at St. Catharine this fall.
