Patriots Outlast Grenadiers

In college basketball action Tuesday afternoon, the St. Catharine College Patriots took a two point halftime lead, built the advantage to as many as 12 points in the second half and then held on for a 98-90 win over the visiting IU-Southeast Grenadiers.

IU-Southeast (7-6) stayed close in the first half thanks to 8-13 shooting from three-point range. But the Grenadiers only made two of nine from behind the arc after intermission as they fell to the Patriots for the second time this season. St. Catharine, 7-2 and ranked 15th nationally in this week’s NAIA poll, had the benefit of three new players who were eligible for the first time this season. The triumvirate of Xavier Keeling (15 points), Kashiff Carr (22) and Troy Lambert (7) combined for 44 points. Brandon Johnson and Antoine Watson also scored in double figures for the Patriots with 16 and 15 respectively. Moore High School product Jazzmarr Ferguson led the Grenadiers with 30 points. Rick Bodiford had 22 and Darryl Bell 13.
