Split With Campbellsville Keeps SCC At .500

The Lady Pats jumped out with a first game win over conference Campbellsville University Thursday afternoon.Campbellsville had to win the second game of the double header to split with St. Catharine. The Lady Patriots won the first game 7-6 and the Lady Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth of game two for a 9-6 win.

Starting on the mound for the Patriots and getting the win was junior, Ashley Cardenas (Santa Ana, CA), who gave up 6 runs on 11 hits. SCC led 5-2 after five and scored two more runs in the top of the seventh to go up 7-2, a hole too deep for the Lady Tigers to dig out.

Justine Paddock (Louisville, KY) ended the game going 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs, while sophomores Hagan Goldey (Lancaster, KY) and Ashley Hardin (Louisville, KY) both went 2-for-4 with a double each.

In game two, the Lady Tigers out-hit SCC 10 to 7 and three errors by the Lady Patriots contributed to Campbellsville's success. The Patriots fell behind the Tigers early in the game 1-3 and couldn't score again until Chelcie Rein's (Louisville, KY) homerun in the fourth. A grand-slam by Rein in the fifth gave the Patriots hope, putting them up, 6-5. The Tiger's pulled through scoring another 3 runs late in the game to capture the win for Campbellsville.

Rein finished the game going 2-for-4 with a homerun and a grand-slam, while Paddock added another pair of RBIs, totalling 4 on the day.

With the split the Lady Patriots stay at an even .500 record in conference (4-4) as well as over-all (6-6).
