Nationally Ranked Teams Slow The Lady Pats Down

The Lady Patriots traveled to Columbia, KY on Saturday afternoon to compete in the Campbellsville/Lindsey Wilson Classic. St. Catharine couldn't put things together at the plate finishing the day 0-3 against three NAIA nationally ranked teams.

The day opened up with 56th ranked, Montreat College. Montreat blew open the second inning scoring 10 runs, on 5 fielding errors, against sophomore pitcher Courtney McHolan (Irvington, KY). The Cavaliers went hitless and scoreless after the second inning but the Patriots couldn't get their bats going, having just three hits in the opener, two of those coming from sophomore Ashley Hardin (Louisville, KY). The Lady Patriots fell to the Cavaliers 0-10.

In game two, the Pats went against 27th ranked, Martin Methodist College. SCC had 6 hits with 2 runs scored compared to the Lady Red Hawks' 8 hits and 4 runs scored. Once again, the Patriots couldn't get the sticks going, not scoring until the sixth inning. Martin Methodist jumped on the board early scoring 3 runs in the first inning. Pitcher, Ashley Cardenas (Santa Ana, CA) gets the 2-4 loss. Taylor Steff (Louisville, KY) went 1-3 with 2 RBIs in game 2.

In the third and final game of the day, SCC dropped another game to 28th ranked, Reinhardt University. The Patriots put up 7 hits with just one run scored. Pitcher, Ashley Hardin (Louisville, KY) did well on the mound but it wasn't enough to pull off the win. The Lady Eagles put up 11 hits with 3 runs scored. Hardin went 1-2 with an RBI.

The SCC Patriots will be back in action at Shawnee State Tuesday afternoon.
