Lady Patriots Drop Twin Bill With Shawnee

The St. Catharine Patriots traveled to Portsmouth, OH Tuesday to take on the Lady Bears of Shawnee State. SCC dropped the twin bill 3-6 and 1-3.

In the first game, the Lady Pats went scoreless until the sixth inning falling behind the Bears who had a four run lead after the second. Even though St. Catharine out hit Shawnee 7-3 with just one error, the Patriots couldn't pull off the win. "Our pitcher struggled in the second inning walking 3 batters, which eventually led to them scoring 4 runs," Head Coach Holly Smith said after the game. Courtney McHolan (Irvington, KY) started the game until Megan Beecham (Louisville, KY) was brought to the mound in the third. Beecham recieved the loss.

In the night cap, SCC once again could not get the bats going. After the Lady Bears jumped on the board in the second and fifth innings, the Lady Pats finally joined them on the board in the sixth scoring their only run of the game. St. Catharine was out-hit 1-8 making 3 fielding errors to give Shawnee State the win. Pitcher, Ashley Cardenas (Santa Ana, CA) takes the loss for game 2.

The Lady Patriots will battle again on Friday playing at Brescia University.
