Northeastern Standout Midfielder Joins SC Soccer

Davy Becomes Eleventh Member of 2011 Class

Tuesday, April 26, 2011 - Shelby Davy became the eleventh member of the Saint Catharine College Women's Soccer 2011 recruiting class when she signed an NAIA scholarship contract at Northeastern High School today.

Davy, a standout Midfielder for Northeastern High School in Springfield, Ohio, made her college pick with her Father, Ken Davy; High School Coach, Dayna Ranard; several teachers; and members of her high school soccer team in attendance.  Shelby has garnered several awards in her career at Northeastern, including All-Ohio Heritage Conference Honorable Mention, Team Most Valuable Player, Best Sportsmanship, and the Coach's Award.  She also plays competitive club soccer in the spring for Coach James Field's Crew Juniors out of Columbus.

In addition to her athletic interests, Shelby is also a strong student.  She won the Academic Award of Excellence and plans to study Chemistry at St. Catharine.  "My goal is to be an All-American and to eventually become a Doctor of Pharmacy," noted Shelby.

SC Coach Paul Patton, present at the ceremony, commented on Davy.  "I am very excited to sign a player and student of Shelby's calibre.  She will be a strong player for us, as well as a good student.  I can't wait for the fall to start and for this recruiting class to begin working with our returners!"
