Local catcher signs with Patriot baseball

While Seth Mattingly is undecided about his college major, he does know what he needs to do on the baseball field when he joins the St. Catharine College Patriots next season.

“I need to work on being a more consistent hitter, said the Washington County High School product who inked an offer with Luther Bramblett’s team Monday. “In college you have to be dialed in on every pitch. Every player at this level is much more solid.”

Bramblett is glad to have the local talent staying close to home. ‘”He is a great kid and a real competitor,” said Bramblett. “I like guys who played two sports in high school and Seth was with good winning programs in both football and baseball.”

At Washington County, Mattingly played for Derek Schuler who spoke highly of his catcher who helped lead the Commanders to the district title last spring. “He is a great guy to coach. He works his tail off and is a great teammate.”
