Baseball Announces 2012 Schedule

Nine new opponents for 2012

Patriot Skipper, Luther Bramblett, has announced the 2012 schedule for St. Catharine College.  The Bat Pats will play host to 33 home games at beautiful Edelen-Haydon Field and will see 9 new opponents on the 2012 slate.

"We are very excited about our spring schedule," noted Bramblett.  "I think we've added some great new opponents and have kept some of the close rivals.  As always, we will compete in the tough Mid-South Conference, so our fans will see some great baseball this spring."

The conference landscape has changed a bit and 2012 will see no divisions in baseball.  The Patriots will play every conference opponent except Rio Grande.  They will host defending MSC Tournament Champion Shawnee State University, Georgetown College, Lindsey Wilson College and new to the schedule, The University of Virginia-Wise.  SC will travel to defending MSC Regular Season Champs Campbellsville University, University of the Cumberlands and new to the schedule University of Pikeville.

"Our conference schedule is going to be a challenge, just as in each year," stated Bramblett.  "There are no weekends off and the new 3-game weekend series will bring a great brand of baseball action.  We have one of the top conferences in the country!"

The Patriots will open up the season the first weekend of February at the University of Mobile for the second year in a row.  They also travel to Mid-Continent University to play Illinois Tech and the host Cougars in early February.  SC will host Berea College, Davenport University, Benedictine University-Springfield and OSU Lima, all new opponents to the 2012 schedule.  The Pats also play a home and home series with Martin Methodist College from the tough TranSouth Conference.

In state rivals Union College, Appalachian Athletic Conference Champions, and Asbury University are back for home and home matchups.  The Bat Pats will also play NCAA DII Oakland City University in a home and home series again this year.  New to the schedule, Brescia University, will trade home dates and Berea College visits the Patriots as well.

The Patriots open up the 2012 season on February 3rd.  It will be Brambletts' 11th season opener.
