The St. Catharine College Bat Pat's beat the rain and the Bears when they swept the home standing MSC foe three games to remain in second place in the MSC standings. SC won 7-1, 5-2 and 12-6 to move their overall record to 23-13 and 8-3 in the Mid-South Conference.
Ryan Rizzi (Lansing, IL) started off the series tossing 7 strong innings, allowing 1 earned and striking out 6. Cory Klinger (Rushsylvania, OH) punched out 4 over his 2 innings to finish the game. Jeremy Turpin (Lawrenceburg, KY) led the Patriot offense, going 3-4 with a sac, 2 swipes, a run and RBI. Joey Andrada (Visalia, CA) had a 2-4 day and Juan Moriel (San Diego, CA) was on base 3 times, scoring 2 with 2 stolen bases.
In the second game, Timothy Reed (Tucson, AZ) tossed a GC, striking out 7 and walking none. He scattered 6 hits and allowed 2 runs (1 earned). Turpin continued his hot day, going 3-4 with 3 runs scored. Moriel went 2-3 with a double, RBI and 2 runs. Luis Zeledon (West Corina, CA) went 1-2 with a double, 2 stolen bases and 3 RBI's.
In the final, CJ Englestad went 4-5 with a double, 4 RBI's and scored 2 runs. Turpin had 2 knocks and scored a run and added a RBI, Moriel added 2 knocks as well, with 2 runs and a RBI. Matt Dillman (LaGrange, KY) went 1-3 with a double and 3 RBI's and Marcus Brown (Louisville, KY) added a 2 hit day, with a double, run and RBI. Matt Pavelich (Tucson, AZ) picked up the win, tossing 3.2 innings in relief. He allowed 2 runs (1 earned) and had 3 K's. Javier Perez (Henderson, NV) started and went 4.1 innings. He tallied 7 K's and allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits.
The Patriots return to action Tuesday when they visit Oakland City University for a DH.
