Brittany Thompson became the second senior from Southern High School to join the St. Catharine Women's Soccer 2012 recruiting class yesterday.
Brittany officially became a member of the team when she signed an NAIA Scholarship Contract in a ceremony at Southern High School in Louisville on Tuesday afternoon. Brittany played defense and midfield for Coach Kerry Floyd at Southern. She was a team captain, and had won the Coaches Award and the Pride Award in previous seasons before her senior year was cut short by injury. Now that she is on the mend, she plans to continue her soccer career as a Patriot. In addition to Southern, Brittany also played club soccer for Louisville Soccer Alliance.
Brittany is a strong student and very active in school. She is the President of the Beta Club, a member of National Honor Society, and a mainstay on the Dean's list. She plans to study Education at St. Catharine.
"Brittany will be great addition to our program," commented Patriot Coach Paul Patton. "She has a great attitude, a strong work ethic, and has shown that she is a leader on the field and in the classroom. Once she is fully recovered from her injury, I am positive that she will regain her form and contribute to our future success."
