"Our recruiting class keeps getting stronger!" stated Patriot Women's Soccer Coach Paul Patton. "Today is an exciting day for our program. Maggie is an outstanding goalie and a great teammate. She will make us better in between the pipes. With a strong group of 'keepers, they will push each other to excel." Coach Patton was, of course, speaking of Maggie Grieser; the latest player to sign on for the Patriots' 2012 women's soccer recruiting class.
Maggie signed her scholarship papers while surrounded by parents, coaches, and teammates in a ceremony at Graham High School in St. Paris, Ohio on Thursday. Maggie, a goalkeeper, was a four-year letter-winner at Graham for Coach Steve Quick's Lady Falcons soccer team. She was named Captain for her senior campaign. She also played club soccer in the spring. Maggie was playing for Dayton Soccer Academy in the Southeast College Showcase last spring when she cought Coach Patton's eye. This season, she plays for Coach John Cooper's Ohio Sting squad.
In addition to spending a lot of time on the soccer pitch, Maggie intends to study Nursing at St. Catharine, with a goal of becoming a Registered Nurse.
