On Sunday, the SC Women's Soccer Reserve Squad played host to the Bethel College Reserves in the first official women's soccer match at the Barber Soccer Complex since 2010.
Bethel opened the scoring in the 49th minute with a high shot from outside that dropped below the crossbar for a 1-0 lead. Less than 5 minutes later, Macy Higdon received a pass from Tiffany Landrum and slotted in a goal to even the score. Bethel scored with 15 minutes left in the game to regain the lead. With time running down, the Patriots earned a free kick near the Bethel goal with a chance to tie up the game. Malorie Steele took the kick and put a long shot on goal. The ball caromed off the post and back into play. The clock ran out with the final score, Bethel 2 - St. Catharine 1.
The loss leaves the SC Reserve Squad with a 2-1 record through the first three games this season. They will be back in action on Wednesday September 5, at home versus Campbellsville University.
