The Patriots traveled to Campbellsville for a key Mid-South Conference game Tuesday. After a scoreless first half the home-standing Tigers connected on two goals in the second period to notch a 2-0 victory.
The loss sent the Patriots’ overall record to 5-3-2 and their conference slate to 3-2. Campbellsville improved to 5-4-1 and 3-1. St. Catharine returns to action Saturday with a non-conference game at home against Berea College starting at 2:00 pm.
In the first period of Tuesday’s contest the Patriots were able to get just one shot on goal while the Tigers fired three, all saved by goalkeeper Lindsey Vinson. The scoreless deadlock was broken just four second into the second half when Jessica Ralph scored for the Tigers. Cassie Yannelli added Campbellsville’s second goal in the 75th minute. The Patriots had one shot on goal the second half and just four shots overall for the game.
“We didn’t get many
chances but the ones we had were good looks,” said Patriot coach Paul Patton.
Paola (Martinez) had a good, lofted shot that their goalkeeper just barely got
her fingers on to stop it.”
