The Patriot Women's Soccer Reserve Squad played two matches in as many days this week.
First, they went on the road to Cincinnati State Community and Technical College on Wednesday. Cincinnati State controlled the match, but were only able to score 1 goal by the half. In the second half, Cincinnati State widened the lead to 3-0 before Macy Higdon scored for the Patriots. Cincinnati State would add a late goal to win the match 4-1.
On Thursday, the Patriots returned home to face Lindsey Wilson College. Earlier in the season, the Patriots had traveled to Lindsey Wilson and lost by a lopsided score of 6-0. The friendly pitch at Barber Field would provide the setting for a much tighter match. The play was back-and-forth most of the first half, and Lindsey Wilson would score late in the period to take a 1-0 halftime lead. The second half was tight as well, with both sides pushing for a goal. With about 15 minutes left, the Patriots would draw a foul in front of the Lindsey Wilson goal, earning a penalty kick for their efforts. Malorie Steele's penalty shot rebounded off the crossbar, the Patriots we unable to finish the rebound, and the score remained 1-0 in favor of the Blue Raiders. Late in the match, the Patriots would have another good chance to score, but the Blue Raider goalkeeper made a great save to preserve the shutout and win the game 1-0.
Two losses this week moves the Reserve Squad record to 2-6. The Reserves will next be in action on Monday, October 22nd at Campbellsville.
