St. Catharine College's Maggie Grieser is the Mid-South Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 21, conference officials announced on Monday.
The women's soccer weekly award is Grieser's first of the season and of her career. Grieser recorded two shutouts in three matches last week to earn the award.
The St. Paris, Ohio, freshman goalkeeper amassed 19 saves during the week while helping the Patriots to a 2-1 record. Grieser opened the week stopping 10 shots in a 3-0 loss to Cumberland University. The three goals would be the last Grieser would allow during the week. Grieser closed with four saves in a 5-0 shutout of Brescia University and five saves in a 6-0 shutout win over St. Mary of the Woods. In seven matches this season, Grieser owns four shutouts with a 0.86 goals against average.
St. Catharine is 8-4-2 overall this season and 5-3 in the Mid-South following last week's play.
