The St. Catharine Women's Soccer Reserve Squad traveled to Campbellsville University on Monday for the last match of the season.
The match was hard fought as Campbellsville had the better of the possession in the first half. The Patriot defense held and the halftime score was 0-0. However, 2 late second half goals by Campbellsville gave the Tigers the victory. The loss drops the Patriot Reserves to 2-7-0 for the season.
Patriot Coach Paul Patton commented on the Reserve Squad's season, "Despite our record, I felt like it was a successful season. First of all, we have a great group of student athletes, with good attitudes and dedicated to school and soccer. Secondly, as a coach, I want to see my players develop and reach their goals. Nine of the players that started the season playing on the Reserve Squad have seen action with the Varsity. Several of them have broken into the starting lineup for multiple games and 3 have become mainstays in the Varsity rotation. There has been a lot of individual improvement throughout the squad this season. I would have liked to win a couple more games with the Reserves, but I think it has been invaluable for our players and our program"
