In a break from Mid-South Conference play, St. Catharine hosted NCAA D-II Kentucky State in volleyball Tuesday. And John Rogers’ Patriots found the break much to their liking with a 3-0 win over the Thoroughbreds.
“We played well in all our areas,” said Rogers whose team improved to 11-16 in winning 25-11, 25-14, 25-19.
The final statistics definitely bear out Rogers’ assessment. The Patriots hit for a season best .400. That sparkling play at the net was led by Casey Stone who was a perfect 10 for 10 in kill attempts.
Allie Southard had nine kills and hit .368. She also had three solo blocks and two block assists. Both Lauren Bowling and Maggie Goben hit .417 with five and six kills respectively. Randa Murphy had 16 digs as the Greensburg, Ky. native ranks eighth nationally in digs.
The Patriots are back in Mid-South Conference action Thursday with a match at Campbellsville. St. Catharine is 4-8 in the MSC which puts them in a seventh place tie with Bluefield College.
The final home game is next Tuesday with a conference match against University of the Cumberlands. The regular season ends November 6th at Cumberland, Tennessee.
