Sunday, the St. Catharine College Baseball staff put on a showcase for high school juniors and seniors. 87 players from Kentucky and bordering states participated in the pro style workout and played in a 15 inning game. 13 different colleges were represented and 19 coaches evaluated the talent.
"It was a great turnout for our first showcase," stated Patriot assistant coach Terry Davis. "Each player was evaluated by a college coach on their skill level, athleticism, speed, etc. The weather was great for the first weekend in November and there were several players that showed well."
Each position player was timed in the 60 yard dash. Each player was also timed by arm strength and bat speed. Everyone was eveluated that played in the game and each college coach met with their players to go over each evaluation.
"Anytime we can get 80 plus kids on our campus and baseball field, it's a great day," exclaimed Luther Bramblett. "Coach Davis did a great job getting players here and organizing the event. I think it was a win-win for everyone involved."
The Patriot staff will put on another showcase over the summer.
