Using their best long-range shooting of the year, the Patriot women downed the Ohio Mid-Western Rams 102-82 Thursday in Cincinnati. The Patriots (7-4) made 15 of 31 from behind the arc in overcoming a slow start to pull away to the easy win.
“It was a good game to get everyone more minutes,” said SC head coach Lena Bramblett. “And we finally hit well from outside.”
St. Catharine trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half but rallied to take a 49-40 lead to the locker room. They quickly went ahead by double digits in the second half and led by as many as 29 points.
Four players scored in double figures led by Reilly Poirier’s 28 points. Carol Ruiz-Lopez had 20 points while Alexiss Griffin and Rianne Hofstraat had 17 and 11 respectively. Poirier had 15 rebounds and Griffin grabbed 10 as the Patriots held a 45-30 advantage on the boards.
The Patriots now are idle until resuming Mid-South Conference action January 3rd at Cumberland University.
