Albeit a short list up to this point, St. Catharine College is creating somewhat of a pipeline between the campus and recruits from Marshall County High School.
First, Tassie Pace came to play golf when the Patriots first started the program in the late 1990’s. More recently, Josh Edwards came to play golf for the Patriots. Currently Tyler McKenty is on the St. Catharine soccer team. And last Friday a new Marshal came to town as Tyler’s cousin, Ashley McKenty, signed to continue her golf career at St. Catharine.
“We are really excited about having Ashley as part of our golf program,” said head coach Joan Rizer. “She will fit in well both as an athlete and student here.”
That opinion was shared by Marshall County High School head coach Vincent Doom. “I am very proud to have coached Ashley this past year,” Doom said. “She did not let adversity affect her future. As a junior she failed to make the regional team but with her determination and work ethic she made the 2012 all-region team and helped lead the team to a 10th place finish in the state tournament. I am excited about her future and I know she will give it her all for St. Catharine College and her new teammates.”
