TEAM ALLEN KNOTS THE SERIES WITH A 3-1 WIN

The St. Catharine College Baseball Fall Classic continued today with Team Allen pitching its way to a series tying 3-1 win.  The series now stands 1-1 and will continue with game 3 tomorrow at 1:00.  Senior pitcher Tim Paxton (Louisville, KY) tossed a gem, going the distance in only 77 pitches to pick up the complete game win.  Paxton allowed 1 run on 4 hits and punched out 2 in 7 innings.

 

Freshman Ben Boes (Louisville, KY) had a RBI single in the 4th to tie the game at 1-1 and had an RBI fielders choice in the 5th to lead Team Allen.  Jeremy Turpin (Lawrenceburg, KY) stole home in the fifth as well for the final margin.  Freshmen Seth Dunn (Elizabethtown, KY) and Devin Luckett (Louisville, KY) were the only other players to tally base knocks for Team Allen.

 

Josh Jillson (Wales, ME) started for Team Davis and tossed 4 plus innings.  He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and tallied 6 K's.  Team Davis mustered just 4 hits with Carlos Hernandez (Fresno, CA), Gregg Tingle (Shelbyville, KY) each collecting singles.  Alan Stoupa (McLean, VA) led Team Davis with 2 base hits and had the only RBI, scoring Richie Stanley (Owensboro, KY) in the top of the 4th.

 

Game 3 begins at 1:00 tomorrow.  The Fall World Series is tied at 1-1.
