BAT PATS TAME THE BEARCATS

The Patriots (35-16) swept the host Brescia University Bearcats Tuesday to get back on track, 13-3 and 9-0. The Patriots are hoping that those wins will carry into the big MSC weekend when they travel to Shawnee State University.

In the opener, the Bat Pats banged out 17 hits in route to a 13-3 win.  KC Mejia went 3-5 with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI's. Tyler Mischel went 3-4 with a double, homerun and 2 RBI's. CJ Engelstad added a 3 hit game, scoring 2 runs and knocked in 1. Josh Whitmer had a 2-3 game with a double and scored twice and Adrian Garcia went 2-4 with a double and triple.

Trenton Claunch picked up the win, tossing 6 innings.  He allowed 3 runs on 11 hits and induced 2 double plays.  Cody Alvey tossed the 7th and allowed no runs on a base knock.

In the night cap, the Patriots used a 4 run second inning to put the game away, winning 9-0.  KC Mejia had the big hit in the inning, a bases loaded double.  Mejia doubled twice, scored a run, swiped a base and drove in 3.  Joey Xavier went 2-3 with a double, 2 runs and a RBI.  Garcia tripled again and scored a run and Brandon Roberts reached base 3 times and went 1-2.

Andrew Nelson picked up the win, tossing 4 shutout innings.  He allowed 2 hits and punched out 3.  Cory Klinger tossed 2 innings of shutout action, allowing no hits and tallying 3 K's.  Matt Wagner tossed a scoreless 7th with a K.

The Pats return to action this weekend with a 3 game MSC series at Shawnee State in Portsmouth, OH.
