The Patriot staff has reeled in two more transfer commits for the 2014 class. This time, they dipped into a familiar pool, swiping two players from Southwestern College in San Diego, CA. Current Pat Francisco Gonzalez and former Patriot Juan Moriel both played at Southwestern.
Pitcher Agustin Lopez and outfielder Victor Serna become the latest commits for the Bat Pats. Lopez has a 1.59 ERA in his 84.2 innings this year. He is 6-4 with 63 K's to just 18 base on balls. Serna has a .225 average in the leadoff spot with 5 doubles. He has scored 19 runs and has knocked in 10. Serna also has 8 stolen bases and has worn 8 pitches on the year.
"Both of these guys fit our system," commented assistant Terry Davis. "Lopez pounds the zone and has shown the ability to win big games. He has three pitches he can throw for a strike and competes very well. Serna is a great defender and runs very well. He has struggled a little this year, but is a great athlete and hard worker. He understands his role, gets on base and defends. We are excited to get both of these guys."
