The St. Catharine Women's Soccer team traveled to Athens, Tennessee on Saturday to wrap up their spring season by competing in the Justin Lucas "Forza" Six-a-Side tournament hosted by Tennessee Welseyan College.
The Patriots fielded 2 teams for the tournament comprised of the Varsity Squad and the Reserve Squad respectively. The competition was demanding and both teams played admirably, scoring in every match. After the round robin portion of the day, the Reserve Squad barely missed the knock-out round while the Varsity Squad earned the #2 seed for the Quarter-Finals. After a solid victory in the round of 8, the Patriots lost 2-1 to a fiesty Point team in the semi-finals.
"It was a great day of soccer with great weather, good competition, and our players fought hard the whole day," commented Patriot Coach Paul Patton. "It puts a good cap on our spring season. We have a great group of young ladies coming back in the fall and we are working hard to finalize another strong recruiting class. I am already looking forward to the fall. It will be here before you know it."
