The St. Catharine College golf teams finished the 2013 season this week with the Lee’s Famous Recipe Mid-South Conference Tournament held at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood. It is the third year of a five year commitment made by the Bardstown Famous Recipe restaurant to sponsor the tournament.
The results were a sweep for the University of the Cumberlands as they took both the men’s and women’s tournament. Lindsey Wilson College was runner-up for both tournaments.
The Patriots did not fare that well on their home course as the women finished at the bottom of the seven team field and the men were ninth among the ten teams.
The St. Catharine women shot a 36-hole total of 786 (397-389). They were led by Jessica Shelton who had a 186 (92-94). Jordan Graham shot a 188 (92-96) followed by Katy Laman (204), Julie Clark (212) and Drew Ison (226).
Cumberlands won with a 613, seven strokes better than Lindsey Wilson’s 620.
The Patriot men were led by Nick Patterson who finished 15th in the 58 player field with a 54-hole total of 231 (79-74-78). Matt Bloom followed with a 240 (85-76-79) and Michael Hardin carded a 257 (88-88-81). Ronnie Twigg had a 260 (90-83-87) and Michael Vuick finished with a 270 (97-85-88).
Campbellsville’s Scott Foster was the men’s medalist with a three-under par 213 for the 54 holes and Cumberlands’ Liz Stephens won the women’s tournament with a 36-hole total of 147.
