Courtney Hagedorn became the sixth, and newest member of the Patriot Women's Soccer team when she signed her NAIA Scholarship Contract yesterday. She signed in front of family, friends, and her high school teammates in the Newport Central Catholic High School library.
Hagedorn, the daughter of Joe and Debbie Hagedorn was a standout for Newport Central Catholic, starting every game except for one in her four years on the team. She played primarily Stopper and Center Midfield for Coach Kevin Turnick. Courtney earned several accolades over her high school career, including Northern Kentucky All Conference in 2010, All 34th District in 2012, and Second Team All 9th Region in 2012. She was also named to the 9th Region All Tournament team and Honorable Mention All State in 2012. Courtney also has extensive club soccer experience, having played several years with NKSA Select in the spring.
In addition to soccer, Courtney is a strong student that has earned recognition as Honorable Mention Academic All-State her junior year. She plans to study Biology at St. Catharine.
"We're excited to Courtney join our program," noted Patriot Coach, Paul Patton. "She will be an excellent addition to the soccer team and will represent us well on the field and in the classroom. Courtney gives us much needed depth in the center, and will likely have an opportunity to contribute immediately."
