The Patriot Baseball staff has announced two more signee's for the 2013-14 class. They inked two more transfers in RHP Jake McCoy and infielder Alfredo Bohorquez. These two get this class up to 11 transfer signee's for the Pats.
"Our class keeps improving," noted Patriot Skipper Luther Bramblett. "These 11 transfers should step in and compete for playing time right away and several freshmen will push for time as well. We are excited to get these guys on campus in the next few weeks and get to work."
Jake McCoy (College of the Desert) went 5-3 with a save last year. He tossed 62+ innings with a 3.03 ERA. He tallied 53 punch outs to just 16 walks. This summer, McCoy is 4-0 with 6 saves for the Edenton Steamers in the Coastal Plains League. He has a 2.35 ERA and 15 K to 3 BB in 15.1 innings. He will be expected to compete for weekend action with his upper 80 to low 90 velo and secondary pitches.
Alfredo Bohorquez (Wabash Valley) did not play last spring. He is playing for the Madisonville Treadewater Pirates in the Ohio Valley League this summer. Through 28 games, Bohorquez was hitting .302 with a double, 3 triples and 12 swipes. He has scored 13 times and has knocked in 20. Bohorquez has a .400 OBP and has walked 9 times with 8 HBP, with a impressive 2 k's in 116 plate appearances. He will compete for time on the infield and fits our system with his offensive style of play.
