After a successful middle school camp, Jason McDannold and his Volleyball Patriots did not take any time away from the grind. Instead, the Lady Patriots hosted a group a high school athletes that are comprised by multiple area schools, including some from the western part of Kentucky.
“This is like a “rust-buster” camp for these kids. This group will be competing for spots on their respective high school squads in the next few weeks, so this gives them an opportunity to awaken those skills that they may have left dormant for the summer” says McDannold. The camp, although led by Jason McDannold, was left primarily to the volleyball team to manage. “It allows our girls to teach others and strengthen the skills that they already know” says coach McDannold.
The Lady Patriots have been all over the state of Kentucky this summer going into schools and allowing youth to be a part of a Patriot Volleyball experience. In fact, the team has been to Princeton, KY and farther in order to spread the word about Patriot Volleyball. “This is a way to become a part of not only the local community, but spread our name state wide” says McDannold of the Patriot’s travels. In addition, to their camp travels the Patriots could have been seen selling fireworks in Bardstown in order to raise money that will help with the camps and the upcoming season. “It’s all about getting out there; we have to let everybody know who we are and why they should be involved. We have a great group of kids that work well with all of the campers and even better on the floor together” states the Patriot’s coach.
