The St. Catharine JV Baseball club has hit the half way point of their fall season after a DH split with Lindsey Wilson yesterday. The split runs the JV record to 10-2 this fall. After a 6-0 start to the fall, the young Pats have gone 4-2 in their last six.
"What a great start for our younger players," noted Patriot Head Coach Luther Bramblett. "They are playing well. Our pitchers have been around the zone, our defense has made most of the routine plays and our hitters have done enough to win some games."
A couple of sophomores have led the way at the plate for the Patriots. Brandon Roberts (Eminence, KY) and Tyler Devine (Harrodsburg, KY) are batting .500 and .469 repectively. Roberts has added 5 doubles and Devine leads the team with 15 hits and 12 runs. Freshmen Dillan O'Daniel (Bardstown, KY) has a .323 average with a team high 8 RBI's and fellow pup Celby Kinney (Columbus, IN) is batting .313.
"It's great to get these guys in game experience. There is no better teacher than live at bats and innings on the bump. The guys are learning, working hard and competing and that's all we ask!"
The JV squad will play on the road Monday at Alice Lloyd and then go to Lindsey Wilson for the annual Fall JV Tournament, where the Patriots have won the "Pumpkin" for the last three years.
