The St. Catharine Patriots (3-13, 0-8 MSC) hosted the Campbellsville Tigers (12-2, 4-2 MSC) in a key conference match Tuesday at the Barber Soccer Complex.
With a conference tournament bid on the line, the St. Catharine Patriots were looking to send the Tigers home holding their tails. After some early game struggles the Patriots maintained a manageable deficit at halftime, trailing by only two goals. As the second half began Brandon Campbell (Louisville, Ky.) continued to keep the Patriots within striking distance, racking up nine saves on the day. Although the offense couldn’t get a shot to find the net, the Patriot defense maintained composure forcing 26 of the Tiger’s shots to miss the goal. As time wound down the Patriots never could overcome early mistakes and find an answer for the Tiger defense.
The St. Catharine Patriots will hit field once more Friday at 3 PM when they host Brescia University (8-4, 3-0 MSC) at the Barber Soccer Complex for senior day.
