The St. Catharine College Baseball Fall World Series will go the distance after Team Gold takes game two with a 3-1 win. Junior hurler, John Werner (Anaheim, CA), stole the show with his 6.1 innings of no hit baseball, leading the Gold Squad to victory. Werner allowed just 1 hit and tallied 5 punchouts.
Bruce Tolliver (Whittier, CA) matched Werner for 5 innings, shutting out the Gold Squad on 1 hit and 8 K's. The Gold Nine, got to reliever Cody Alvey (Upton, KY) for 2 runs in the top of the sixth. Adrian Garcia (Anaheim ,CA) started the inning with a single and scored on a Danny Jimenez (Fountain Valley, CA) double off the left centerfield fence. Jimenez later scored on a wild pitch. Team Gold added a run in the top of the seventh when Francisco Gonzales (San Diego, CA) singled and scored on a fielders choice.
Nick Rosso (Santa Barbara, CA) walked to start the bottom of the seventh for Team Purple, then Ty Broady (Greenville, KY) blooped in the only Purple base knock to put runners on the corners. Tyler Shewmaker (Shepherdsville, KY) relieved Werner and picked up the save after Lamont Calloway (Louisville, KY) knocked in Rosso for the 3-1 final.
