The Patriots Men's soccer team traveled to Cincinnati to take on Cincinnati State Community and Technical College on Sunday. The Patriots entered the game with two starters out of action due to injury, another out due to a suspension from an earlier ejection, and 2 players playing with injuries.
The undermanned Patriots ran into a buzz saw in the form of a very good and very large Cincinnati State team. The play was all Cincinnati State from the beginning as they took advantage of their speed and numbers to run the weary Patriots down. Cincinnati State seemed to score at will and held a 6-0 edge at halftime.
The Patriots vowed to keep the score down in the second half, and succeeded, only allowing 2 second half goals. Despite the 8-0 loss, the Patriots found one bright spot in the stellar play of Goalkeeper Will Johnston, who recorded 19 saves and denied Cincinnati State on many occasions.
