The #23 St. Catharine Patriots (10-5, 4-2 MSC) reestablished themselves in the top three of the Mid-South Conference on Saturday as they knocked off #13 Georgetown College (12-4, 3-2 MSC) 103-90 in Lourdes Hall.

After dropping a heartbreaker to the University of the Cumberland’s on Thursday, the St. Catharine Patriots were ready to get back on the winning track against their rival Georgetown College. The northeast trio of Dominique Roy (Penn’s Grove, N.J.), Omar Skinner (New Castle, Del.) and Taron Franklin (Philadelphia, Penn.) made sure that the Patriots would find that winning track quickly. Just under the halfway point of the first half Dominique Roy made a monster slam from the pass of Omar Skinner to put the Patriots up 10. Minutes later, following two hard fought baskets in the lane from Raymon Austin (Cleveland, Ohio) for four of his 15 total points, Omar Skinner grabbed the offensive board and made an acrobatic put-back to extend the Patriot lead to 14. With just five remaining in the first, Taron Franklin checked in the game and wasted no time contributing as he stroked a three point shot to stop a 9-0 Tiger run. However, the Tigers were able to make yet another run and cut the lead to five for a 47-42 halftime score.

After getting out to a slow start in the second half, where the Tigers tore off a 7-2 run to tie the contest at 51, the Patriots made a run of their own with a spark by another three point shot from Franklin. With the Patriots leading 68-60, William Bailey (Valley, Ala.) blocked a Tiger shot that was picked up by Roy, who was able to find Skinner down the floor for an impressive dunk, extending the Patriot lead to 10. From there the Patriots would continue their dominance on offense and push their lead to as many as 15 before sealing the victory at 103-90.

The Patriots will hit the road to battle second place Rio Grande on Thursday for a chance to improve their position in the conference.
