It was a weekend to remember for the St. Catharine Nautical Patriots as they took to the waves in Campbellsville to battle Tigers and the Wildcats of Bethel.
After a long stint out of the water, the Lady Patriot swimmers were ready to get back in the water and pick up where they had left off before the break. In the 200 Freestyle Hannah Spaulding (Springfield, Ky.) set the pace for the Patriots as she led teammate Martha Raley (Lebanon, Ky.) with a 2:25.97 for a third place finish. Raley showed her stamina by finishing her fourth split faster than her third with a 44.09 and nailing down a 2:46.70 for a fourth place showing. Raley snagged a third place finish in the 400 Freestyle when she defeated Bethel’s Madison Rush with a 6:02.89. In the 100 Meter Breast Stroke Spaulding gave the Patriots reason to cheer when she dominated the field with a 1:25.85 and a first place victory. Spaulding put the icing on the cake later in the day when she pulled away late in the 100 Meter Fly after trailing by five tenths of a second at the turn. Spaulding accelerated down the stretch pulling away from the Campbellsville swimmer to win 1:17.65 to 1:21.09.
The Patriots will hit the water again February 1st when the head to Union College to take on the Bulldogs.
