The Patriot Women's Soccer team added another piece to their 2014 recruiting class when Katelyn Garland signed an NAIA scholarship contract to officially join the team yesterday at McCracken County High School.
"We are excited to be signing a second player from the Paducah area, noted Patriot Coach Paul Patton. "Katie will be a strong addition to our program. She is not only a good soccer player but a strong student as well. She will bring hard work to our team on the field and off."
Katie primarily played defender at Lone Oak for her first three years of High School. She earned recognition as the Impact player of the Year at Lone Oak in 2010 and 2011 as well as Defensive Player of the Year in 2011. After Lone Oak, Reidland, and Heath high schools were combined to form the new McCracken County High School for Fall 2013, Katie not only made the team, but was a big part of the first District 1 championship team in school history. She earned Defensive Player of the Year honors and was name to the All 1st District team.
Off the field, Katie is a strong student and was named Academic Honorable Mention all four years of High School. She is currently undecided on a college major.
