As the state’s top-ranked high school wrestler in the 195 pound weight class, Darrius Parrott already has some noteworthy accomplishments. And now the North Hardin High School senior has added another feat when he recently became the first signee of the new wrestling program at St. Catharine College.
“We are happy to welcome Darrius as the first wrestler in our new program,” said St. Catharine head coach Spencer Adams. “His attitude will help him be successful in college.”
At North Hardin, Parrott wrestled for Coach Joe Burroughs who echoed Adams’ thoughts on the grappler’s chances of success. “First I am really glad to see Darrius going to St. Catharine. I am good friends with Spencer and I have the utmost respect for Gary Canter (St. Catharine assistant coach),” said Burroughs. “Darrius started wrestling as a fifth grader and my experience with him has been really good. His focus right now is on nothing but winning the state championship. He has grown so much from last year to this year and I see nothing but good things for him in college.”
