The St. Catharine Patriots made a return trip to
east central Indiana on Saturday, this time visiting Taylor University.
The meet at Taylor would mark the second meet of the
indoor season for the Patriots and they would be looking for redemption and
even continued success. The Patriots found their continued success in Neshaun
Gordon (Louisville, Ky.) and Tyler Dunn (Harrodsburg, Ky.) who were coming off
of first and second place finishes in the triple jump at Indiana Wesleyan.
Gordon scored the highest finish of the day for the Patriots when he posted a
second place finish with a 12.70 meter mark in the triple jump, just a tenth of
a meter off the first place distance of 12.80 meters. Dunn followed closely
behind his teammate, scoring a third place finish with a mark of 12.09 meters.
Dunn’s jump was a small improvement over his 12.06 meter mark at Wesleyan and
is his longest jumped posted to date. In the women’s triple jump, Jenna Foster
(Dahlonega, Ga.) scored the highest finish of the day for the Lady Patriots as
she jumped her way to a 9.03 in the triple jump. The jump was good enough for a
sixth place finish and was just short of the 9.34 mark in the fifth spot.
In the 5000 meter run AJ Middleton (Montgomery,
Ala.) posted the highest finish for the Patriots in a running event, scoring a
ninth place finish with 17:03.26 and finish just 12 seconds behind the eighth
place finisher. In the 200 meter dash Neshaun Gordon struggled early, but
recovered with a 25.23 second finish and kept him in a 42nd place
finish. In the shot put Kameron Lackey (Bardstown, Ky.) led the way for the
Patriots as he tossed an 11.46 meter throw, earning him a top 25 finish. Andrew
Martin (Louisville, Ky.) worked his way to a 10.61 meter throw and a top 30
finish to round out the Patriot line up.
The Patriots will hit the track again when they head
to Hillsdale, Michigan this weekend for the “Wide-Track Classic.”
