Chris Johnson (Bowling Green, Ky.) scored a season high 17 despite, the Patriots falling to the University of the Cumberland’s (14-9, 6-7 MSC) 88-60 on Saturday.
In their last meeting, the Cumberland’s Patriots and the St. Catharine Patriots battled until the very end when the Cumberland’s came away with a one point victory on a last second free throw in Lourdes Hall. However, this wasn’t the case on Saturday afternoon when the home Patriots thumped the Patriots in purple 88-60.
The St. Catharine Patriots trailed at the half by a mere seven points, despite shooting 37.5% from the floor in the first half. However, the Cumberland’s Patriots were able to find the hoop 82% of the time in the second half, while St. Catharine hit only 32% of their shots. Unfortunately for St. Catharine, the Cumberland’s nailed all of their eight three point shot in the second half en route to their 28 point victory.
The St. Catharine Patriots were paced by Chris Johnson with his season high 17, but were unable to produce another double digit scorer for the first time all season. Raymon Austin (Cleveland, Ohio) led the Patriots with 10 boards while contributing seven points to the Patriot effort.
The Patriots will return to Lourdes Hall Tuesday at 8 PM to face Wilberforce College in a non-conference matchup.
