TENNIS LEASHES THE BULLDOGS
Patriot tennis snagged their most impressive win at home on Monday when the completed a dominating 8-1 victory over Union College.
The young squad of Patriot “Racketeers” put on an absolute show on Monday when the Union College Bulldogs invaded the confines of the St. Catharine Tennis Complex. In the doubles’ competition the Patriots were able to jump out to a 2-1 lead. In number one doubles Andre Jacomini (Brazil) and Ethan Rowton (Paducah, Ky.) were able to overcome the strong pair of Molina and Mithlin 9-7, while in number two doubles Felipe Barrientoes (Colombia) and Ivan Kerkoc-Portillo (Spain) dominated Joekson and Milallan 9-0.
During the singles’ matches the Patriots were able to pull away early and never look back as Ethan Rowton defeated Molina in the extra set of number one singles 2-6, 3-6, 10-6. Later in the number four match, Tyler Glover (Lawrenceburg, Ky.) snagged his first victory of the season as he defeated Moore 6-1, 6-4. Despite having the match already in the bag, Sergio Mendoza (Columbia) put on a show to seal the deal 6-2, 6-3 over Union’s Saunua.
The Patriots will hit the court again March 28th when they travel to Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee to battle the Bulldogs in a conference match.
