The Patriots (18-14, 10-5) swept the visiting Asbury University Eagles Tuesday to run their season long win streak to five games. The Pats won the opener on a walk off sac-fly, 2-1 and erupted for a 16-2 win in the nightcap.
In the opener, Francisco Gonzalez (San Diego, CA) hit a sac fly to right to score pinch runner Eric Donnelly (Coral Springs, FL) for the 2-1 walk off win. Cory Klinger (Rushlyvania, OH) picked up the win in relief, tossing the last 2 innings. Klinger allowed no runs or hits and punched out 3. Starter CJ Gant (Louisville, KY) tossed into the 6th. Gant allowed 1 run on 4 hits and tallied 2 K's. Gonzalez led the Patriots going 2-3 with a RBI and Alfredo Bohorquez (Maracaibo, Venezulea) went 1-3 with a run for the only other Bat Pat base knock.
In the second game, the Patriots exploded for 16 runs on 17 hits in route to the sweep. Starter Cody Alvey (Upton, KY) went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and struck out 7. Rich Corrente (Chatham, ON) tossed a scoreless inning and Derek Jones (Mt. Washington, KY) hurled a scoreless 7th.
At the plate, the Patriots were led by Tyler Steiner (Coral Glades, FL), who went 2-4 with 3 RBI's and Adrian Garcia (Anaheim, CA) who went 2-3 with 3 RBI's and 2 runs. Nick Rosso (Santa Barbara, CA) went 2-2 with a triple, double 2 RBI's and 2 runs. Danny Jimenez (Fountain Valley, CA) added a 2-4 game with a run and 2 RBI's and Eric Standafer (Shelbyville, KY) went 2-3 with 2 runs and a RBI. Harold Diaz (Gurabo, PR) went 2-2 with a RBI and run scored.
The Patriots will travel to Morehead, KY Wednesday to play NCAA DI Morehead State University at 6:00.
