The St. Catharine College Patriots (20-19, 11-8) scored two runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to beat visiting Lindsey Wilson College (22-21, 9-9), 3-2. Down to their last out, a walk and two singles plated two runs for the walkoff win.
Francisco Gonzalez (San Diego, CA) had the game winner, scoring courtsey runner Lamont Calloway (Louisville, KY) for the final run. Alfredo Bohorquez (Maracaibo, Venezuelea) singled before Gonzalez, scoring Marc Mason (Tehama, CA) to tie the game and who reached on a walk to start the rally.
John Werner (Anaheim, CA) started for the Patriots and went 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits, while punching out 10 Blue Raiders. Trenton Claunch (Burgin, KY) picked up the win in relief, tossing 2 innings of shutout ball.
Lindsey Wilson jumped out to a 2 run lead in the top of the 3rd inning. SC cut the lead in half when Drew Kissel (Jeffersonville, IN) singled and Gonzalez tripled home Calloway. Sam Ross took the loss for LWC, wiping out a quality start by England Smith who tossed 8.1 innings.
The Patriots tallied 11 hits, with Bohorquez going 3-4 with a RBI. Gonzalez added a 2-5 game with 2 RBI's and Danny Jimenez (Fountian Valley, CA) went 2-4 with a double. Kissel added a 2-3 game as well.
Both teams meet again tomorrow at 1:00 for a DH.
