The St. Catharine Softball Patriots (14-25, 10-20) made the trip to Cumberland University looking to recapture the excitement from their earlier 2-1 victory over the Bulldogs.

In their early season meeting, the St. Catharine Patriots rode the stellar pitching performance of Krystal Cammuse (Frankfort, Ky.) en route to a 2-1 victory. In game one Tuesday the Patriots would look to their ace once more to against a talented Bulldogs squad. Fortunately for the Patriots Cammuse delivered with an 8 hit three run performance that included five strikeouts and only one walk.

After four innings of play the Patriots found themselves in a 2-0 hole, but were able to erase the deficit when Ramie Goldey (Lancaster, Ky.) and Brandi Hood (Bardstown, Ky.) crossed the plate off of a Taylor Steff (Louisville, Ky.) RBI. However, the Patriots would fall victim to a walk off run in the bottom of the seventh, despite the outstanding performance from Krystal Cammuse. “Krystal pitched great!” exclaimed Head Coach Holly Smith. “It should have been another win.”

In game two the Patriots never got started as they fell 13-3 on the heels of seven errors. For the Patriots, Cammuse and Brittany McKee (Somerset, Ky.) had 1-2 days with McKee hitting in two of the Patriot’s three runs.

The Patriots will hit the road for their final conference contests of the year when they travel to Bluefield College and the University of Pikeville for a weekend series.
