WRESTLING TAG TEAMS WITH TRACK TO SNAG CLEMMONS

The Wrestling Patriots took a page out of professional wrestling’s rule book and “tag teamed” with the Patriot Track and Field team to snag Spencer County standout Derek Clemmons. Clemmons comes to St. Catharine after finishing eight in the state and second in the region for his weight class. “Derek is a good kid that is the type of person that is going to excel in college” said Head Wrestling Coach Spencer Adams. “He comes in with great grades and a good work ethic.” The 220 pounder will not only compete on the mat for the Patriots but will take his turn at tossing the shot put and discus for the St. Catharine Track and Field team. “He’s had some great high school performances” said Head Track and Field Coach Blake Jones. “He is going to be a well-rounded edition to our young program.” In the classroom Clemmons will look to stay at the top of his class throughout his collegiate career as he comes in touting the Academic All State award. “He’s the type of kid that will serve as a role model for our athletes both in and out of the classroom” said Jones. Clemmons plans to enroll in the new Athletic Training Education program at St. Catharine where he will complete a Bachelor’s of Science degree and become an Athletic Trainer Certified.
