St. Catharine, Ky. - After spending her summer working at a local sporting goods store in her hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky former Lady Patriot standout Jane Howard traded in her salesman card to play professional basketball in Australia.
During her senior season at St. Catharine College, Howard helped lead a talented Patriots’ squad to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Tournament for the first time in school history. Howard will look to carry that success over to her current team, the South Adelaide Panthers, who haven’t made a playoff appearance since 2009.
Since breaking into the professional basketball scene in Australia Howard has wasted little time picking up where she left off at St. Catharine College; currently the 6’ 2” forward is leading the state league in scoring for her South Adelaide Panthers, averaging 25.4 points per contest, just over her average of 20.3 in her senior season as a Lady Patriots.
“I am so proud of Janae” said Lady Patriot Head Coach Lena Bramblett. “She has taken the skills and leadership that she gained in college and is leading her team now. We knew that Janae could play at that level.”
Howard will take the floor once again with her new club May 24th when the Panthers take on the Central District Lions.
