Friday, September 26 - The St. Catharine Soccer Patriots made the trip to Circleville, Ohio today to take on the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers. The Trailblazers came into the game with a perfect 6-0 record and sat atop the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), Division II rankings. The Trailblazers lived up to their ranking in the first half by taking the action to the Patriots and scoring twice before halftime.
The Patriots regrouped during the break and played inspired soccer in the early going of the second half. Four minutes in, Patrick Williams made a run from the back as Orest Arendacz served up a corner kick and put it neatly into the goal to cut the lead in half. Twenty minutes later; another corner kick, this time served up by Don Russel, was headed home by Evan Harlow to even the score at 2 apiece. The final twenty minutes of the game was played at high intensity as both teams tried to put the game away. With the clock ticking down in stoppage time, SCC earned another corner kick. Once again, Don Russel served it into the goalmouth. This time Will Meza connected on a header, putting the ball in and scoring the winning goal. OCU was unable to answer in the final 30 seconds and the Patriots won 3-2.
