The Patriot Women's Soccer team went on the road looking for their first win of the season on Saturday. They got just that as they defeated Cincinnati Christian 6-1 to bring their record to 1-1-1 in 2014.
The Patriots came out shooting and continued to do so throughout the match. Three different Patriots scored in the first half as the St. Catharine built a 3-0 lead. In the second, Cincinnati Christian narrowed the lead to 2 with a goal in the first 5 minutes, but the patriots would control the play and would chip away at the CCU defense and would break through in the last twenty minutes for 3 more goals.
Six different Patriots scored with two freshmen getting their first collegiate goals in the contest. Goals were scored by Macy Higdon, Chelsey Landrum, Kindsay Miller-Riney, Amanda Schabell, Carrie Isaacs, and Courtney Anderson.
This is only the third match between these two programs, and the first since 2008. However, this is the first victory for St. Catharine in the series. The Patriot Women take the field again for a match at Asbury University on Tuesday, September 10th at 7pm.
